Please Welcome…. The Cottage Custard + Coffee

Tuesday, August 10th, 2021

Hello King & Prince Friends,

We have added an exciting new addition to our property! The Cottage Custard + Coffee first opened its doors this past April. It offers a lot of yummy snacks such as pastries, custard, and delicious coffee! We receive our coffee beans from St. Simons Island’s own Wake Up Coffee Co. They have created a special blend of coffee just for us, so if you love it as much as we do, you can purchase a bag of our blend at The Cottage. Not only is it a place to eat delicious custard, and pastries, but it is also a gift shop as well. The gift shop offers a wide variety of clothing and other King and Prince Resort goodies you can take home as gifts! The Cottage is the perfect place to stop for a treat or bring the kids to play on our castle playground! Parents can sit and enjoy time by the fire while the kids enjoy playing in the castle.

But wait….. We added something else!

The newest addition to our Cottage is a mural!  The mural was painted this summer by artist Juliana Lupacchino, also known as, Julu. She is a local artist from Savannah and has been coming to The King & Prince with her family for years. Julu’s style has brought some vibrant patterns and color to our property. Make sure you snap a picture in front of it and tag us on Instagram & Facebook!

Adventures + Activities

Island Airboat Tours: not quite on St. Simons, this tour can be taken from underneath the Sidney Lanier Bridge in Brunswick. If you’re looking for a new way to explore the marshes then we definitely recommend giving Capt. Robert a call at 912-223-2723!

WWII Home Front Museum: This exhibit was opened in December of 2018 and is already a must-do on your next St. Simons trip. “Developed by Coastal Georgia Historical Society and designed by Gallagher & Associates, lead exhibit designer at the National World War II Museum in New Orleans, the Home Front Museum details this region’s multifaceted role during the war. Galleries of immersive exhibits recreate iconic home front scenes such as an A & P Food storefront and a military recruitment office. Interactive experiences allow visitors to try their hand at plane spotting, directing fighter pilot squadrons using radar technology, and building and joining the crew of a Liberty ship.”

Not convinced? Then you should also know that “Glynn County was unique. It was the location of three critical wartime facilities: an airship base, a radar training school (at The King and Prince Resort!), and a Liberty shipyard. The Georgia coast also experienced a devastating German U-boat attack on April 8, 1942, when U-boat 123 torpedoed two tankers just 13 miles off the coast of St. Simons Island, killing 22 merchant mariners and covering the beach with oil for weeks after.” Told you it was interesting. Go learn more! (There are also bundle passes to the lighthouse and museum here.)

String of Pearls (formerly the Cloister Belle): The best way to take in the Golden Isles is from the water. Book sunset wine cruises, private charters + more aboard the String of Pearls. This 71′ long beauty is built of mahogany and teak, weighs 40 tons, and used to race Jack Kennedy’s sport fisherman on Cape Cod Bay. Pssst, numerous celebrities such as Bruce Springsteen, Brad Pitt, Pierce Brosnan, Harrison Ford, many statesmen and a couple of princesses have enjoyed the boat over the years – indulge in your fancy side, you’re in great company.
