A Royal Holiday Celebration at The King and Prince

Wednesday, December 1st, 2021

Cherished Holiday Traditions and Events Return to Historic St. Simons Island Resort!

The Royal Holiday Celebration will include signature holiday events along with festive, family-friendly activities throughout the month of December. The celebration begins on Thanksgiving Day with the debut of a larger-than-life and handsomely decorated Christmas tree in the grand lobby. The King and Prince welcomes resort guests and local residents with southern hospitality to savor the season on St. Simons Island.

Teddy Bear Tea

The King and Prince will host two Teddy Bear Tea events this holiday season, an annual tradition where children are invited for a holiday tea party and storytime with Santa Claus. Each child will receive a plush stuffed animal upon arrival to keep as their own. This ticketed event features an assortment of festive treats and refreshments. Please note all children must be accompanied by an adult. Teddy Bear Tea will be held on Saturday, December 4, 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., and Saturday, December 18, 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. Registration is required in advance via Eventbrite. The cost is $35 per child and $25 per accompanying adult. Click the link here to purchase your tickets!

Fireside Stories with Santa

On two separate evenings this December, Santa Claus will share Christmas stories fireside at The King and Prince. Cozy up with an expertly made hot chocolate as Old Saint Nick reads a classic holiday novel. This family-friendly event will be hosted outside at The Cottage Custard + Coffee shop on Thursday, December 2 and again on Tuesday, December 21 inside the resort’s grand lobby, both events in the evening from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. Fireside Stories with Santa events are open to the public at no charge.

Paint with Santa

On Sunday, December 5, 2:00 – 5:30 p.m. The King and Prince will partner with local pottery and art studio, The Tinted Tide for an ornament-making and handprint cookie plate workshop. Santa Claus will welcome guests with holiday storytelling before the painting begins. Attendees will create personalized holiday ceramics to adorn their homes for years to come. Hot chocolate and tasty treats will be provided.

This holiday crafting event is a great opportunity to gather family members of all ages. Tickets start at $36 per child and include all craft materials and plate firing post-event. Tickets can be purchased in advance by clicking this link.

Christmas Caroling

Local school choirs and music students will present Christmas Caroling in The King and Prince Resort’s grand lobby throughout the month of December. Enjoy the sounds of the season among beautifully decorated fresh-cut evergreen trees and stunning holiday décor. Complimentary and delectably cozy refreshments like hot chocolate, Christmas tea, and a mixed array of sweet treats will be provided. Frederica Academy performs on Tuesday, December 7, Oglethorpe Point Elementary on Thursday, December 15, and St. Simons Elementary on Thursday, December 16. All performances are held from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Christmas Caroling events are open to the public at no charge.

Visiting St. Simons Island, Georgia this holiday season? Join us for an array of festive events as we present A King and Prince Christmas!

From our Traditional Buffets to Story Times with Santa at our Teddy Bear Teas, there are plenty of chances for everyone to find their Christmas spirit! We can’t wait for you to join us in celebrating this magical time of year.

Teddy Bear Tea

Our newest favorite tradition is the perfect opportunity for your little one to bring their stuffed toy friend with them to decorate cookies + visit with Santa. Story time, a complementary photo, and a special pre-Christmas gift from Santa are all included in this experience. This sell-out event was such a hit that this year it’s returning TWICE. Event is from 11am — 1pm and advance tickets (required) can be purchased for either our December 14th or December 21st events.

Brunch with Santa + Mrs Claus

This holiday season we’re offering the best of both worlds by marrying ECHO’s award winning brunch with Christmas VIPs so your child can discuss their Christmas list with Santa himself over chocolate chip pancakes. From poached pear Waldorf salads to chicken pot pie to mini-waffles, there are delectable options for the most discerning of palates. Event is from 12:30 — 2:30pm and advance tickets (required) can be purchased for either our December 15th or December 22nd events.

Nightly Caroling

Local school chorales and music ensembles will be caroling in The King and Prince lobby select dates Monday, December 9th — Thursday, December 19th. During these events, Hot Chocolate + Christmas Tea will be available. Most performances begin at 6:30p with a detailed schedule available on our Resort calendar (or scroll down to see the full schedule below).

Gingerbread House Display + Finale Event

We’ve partnered with local charities to bring you the best Gingerbread House display in the Golden Isles. Bidding begins December 6th and last until December 19th (2pm). During our grand finale event that evening, the winning bidders will get to take home their Gingerbread decorations. During the event, Brunswick High School students will begin caroling at 6:30pm. All proceeds from this auction will go to the charities and schools involved and the auction can be accessed here.

Toys for Tots

We’ll be collecting new toys again this year for our annual Toys for Tots drive. If you can help and would like to participate in the toy drive, just drop of your new, unwrapped (this is important) gift at our toy collection boxes in the lobby or at our partner collection site, East Beach Yoga. We will be collecting now through through mid-December.

Christmas Eve Dinner

With all of the Christmas activity on St. Simons, like Santa Arriving on SSI, our Christmas Eve Dinner is the perfect way to gather with the loved ones before (or after) you go scouting for the jolly fella. This 5-course dinner is $65 and with it’s choice of entree option, there’s certainly something for everyone! Click here to see the full menu here and call 912-268-5967 to make your (recommended) reservations.

Christmas Day Brunch

Our Christmas tradition continues with another extensive menu meant to spoil you. In addition to the usual brunch favorites, the family will be feasting over delicacies including shrimp, crab claws, mussels, smoked salmon, pork chops, red fish, quail, venison + more. Best part? No dirty dishes for you to wash after! Click here to see full menu or make your reservations (required) by calling ECHO at 912-268-5967.

New Year’s Eve

This year, we’re ringing in 2020 with Monique Cothern (starting at 6p) followed by Noah Cothern + the Guys in Ties (starting at 9:30p) with a complementary champagne toast at midnight. The regular menu will be available in ECHO along with this special menu from 5-10pm. Reservations for dinner are highly recommended and music ends at 12:30a.

Southern Grown Concert Series: Marshall Tucker Band: December 1st, 2016

The Southern Grown Concert Series presents The Marshall Tucker Band in concert at Rainbow Island Thursday, December 1 at 7 p.m.

In the early fall of 1973 The Marshall Tucker Band was still a young and hungry group out to prove themselves every time they hit the stage. The band’s recent release of their Live! From Englishtown album is a time capsule from that period. “We were a bunch of young guys who didn’t know any boundaries” says founding member and longtime lead singer Doug Gray.

Today the band records on its own RAMBLIN’ RECORDS Label (distributed by Sony / RED) and continues to release new and previously unreleased material. For their most recent release, the band dug into the vault and emerged with the original live recordings from its biggest show to date. The new Live! From Englishtown album was originally performed in 1977 and reportedly drew more than 150,000 fans. Still led today by founding member and lead singer Doug Gray, they represent a time and place in music that will never be duplicated.

Ritz Radio Theatre Presents It's a Wonderful LifeRitz Radio Theatre Presents It’s a Wonderful Life: December 9th to 18th, 2016

Golden Isles Arts & Humanities is bringing back the popular Ritz Radio Theatre production of It’s A Wonderful Life for the holiday season. Perfect for all ages, the performance will be presented December 9-18, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 3 pm.

The Ritz Radio Theatre productions are just like they would have been done in the 1940s as live radio broadcasts—in front of a live audience, with period costumes, sound effects and even commercials. “It’s a fun and interactive performance,” says Heather Heath, Executive Director, Golden Isles Arts and Humanities. “The audience is part of the broadcast as their reactions and applause are integral to the show. And getting to see the actors ‘become’ their characters and watch how the sounds are created is very entertaining.”

It’s a Wonderful Life is the beloved tale of a guardian angel named Clarence who helps a despairing businessman by showing him what life would have been like if he had never existed. Local radio personality Scott Ryfun takes on the role of George Bailey with some familiar and some new faces joining the cast this year. Scott Akins, Jeff Dempsey, Geoff Matthews, Emmeline Griffith, and Jacqueline Marchbanks join regulars Peggy Shanahan, Kelly Hunter, Lisa Jinkins, Christina Johns, Joan Scheetz, Bryan Thompson, Fred Griffith and Jim Jinkins (as Clarence Oddbody, Angel Second Class) in the lively and fun adaptation of the beloved film.

The Ritz Radio Theatre productions are sponsored in part by Ned Cash Jewelers and local radio station 1440 WGIG and presented by Golden Isles Arts & Humanities. Advance tickets for Golden Isles Arts & Humanities members are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors (age 65 and up). Advance tickets for nonmembers are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors. Day of show tickets for members are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors while the cost for nonmembers is $25 for adults and $20 for seniors. The cost for students (with ID) is always $5 each. To purchase advance tickets, visit, or the Ritz Theatre box office, 1530 Newcastle St., Tuesdays-Fridays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. For more information, call (912) 262-6934.
