Fond Farewell for Michael Johnson

Michael Johnson

On behalf of MMI Hospitality Group and the staff of The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort, we announce the retirement of our General Manager Michael Johnson. Michael has served in his leadership position for 18 years, moving the resort and team members into a new millennium of impeccable hospitality.

The entire community of The Golden Isles has been blessed with Michael’s leadership. Gaines Sturdivant, President of MMI Hospitality Group, has recognized his positive leadership since the day Michael arrived at the family owned and operated resort in 2001. “Michael is an outstanding leader, hotelier, community volunteer and in a word, person.  His contributions to the King and Prince and our organization overall have been significant.  However, it is Michael’s heart that makes him unique.  He believes in people like no one I have ever known and this is evident from the response of those he works with both at MMI and within the community.  We truly treasure all that he has given and taught us over his 18 years with us.”

Many of the hotel and golf course employees have worked tirelessly with Michael throughout the past 18 years, developing their own hospitality careers through his generosity that was ever-present in his interaction with MMI team members. He has cared sincerely about each individual rather than the many positions he oversaw at the Resort.  Rhonda Garner (Rooms Division Manager) expresses what most of the staff are feeling about his retirement: “Michael Johnson is a man of impeccable integrity that is rare in this day and age. He is compassionate, patient, kind, and always willing to be a listening ear in a time of need. He has brought a strong sense of stability to The King and Prince that we have all profited from over the years. You would be hard pressed to find anyone with anything but positive things to say about him. He will be so missed by those of us who worked hand in hand with him and we just wish him the best retirement packed full of strong waves and lots of sunshine!”

During Michael’s tenure at The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort, he served on the Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors, the Chamber of Commerce Board, and volunteered to be a part of numerous nonprofit entities.  Scott McQuade, President and CEO of the Golden Isles Convention and Visitors Bureau, worked closely with Michael on many occasions. “Michael was always willing to help put the community first. His spirit of cooperation and collaboration will be missed, but his mark on the tourism industry and the Golden Isles community will always remain with us. We wish Michael all the best in his retirement and thank him for the many decades of service to our community”.

Please join us in thanking Michael Johnson for his leadership as we are truly happy for him as he enters into an exciting chapter with his loving family and the responsibilities he will volunteer to offer as a new grandfather! He has made many friends throughout his career and we know he will appreciate the opportunity to have everyone celebrate this new season ahead!

Who’s the new head honcho at The King and Prince? Bart Johnson (no relation) and you can meet him here.
