The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort has been open since 1935. There have been countless memories created in this resort. Year after year, many families have created traditions and many special moments. We asked our fans on Facebook to leave their best memories from The King and Prince. Here are some of our favorites:
“My first visit in 1984, was a walk down memory lane for my late husband. He was born in 1933 in a house a block from the lighthouse on the Island. He lived there until he was six. One story he told was about the fire at the hotel. The fire truck overturned on the way to the hotel. He also had a ride in the hotel plane, his first plane ride that sparked his love of aviation that continued to the end of his life.” -Jane Holgerson Thompson
“Getting engaged on the steps down to the beach off of Neptune. (Some of the first steps I used when I learned how to walk.) and of course getting married on the lawn at The King and Prince.” -Kate Foster
“Honeymooners in Sept ‘99” -Tim Gaddis
“We took my son to K&P 3 times a year when he was little. He loved the revolving door and jumping between the hot tub and the indoor pool. We were there for spring break one year and the Easter Bunny hid his basket on the grounds. He was so surprised! While swimming in the indoor pool, we used to talk about our dream to move to St. Simons one day. I moved to St. Simons 10 years ago and last night, my son, who is now 22, had dinner with me at Echo, celebrating his move here this past weekend. A full circle moment!” -Jody Furr
“Got engaged in the lighthouse. Got married in the original lobby in 2004. Wouldn’t have wanted my wedding anywhere else. Named our son Simon for the special place St. Simons holds for us!” -Kim West
