“THE ROADS LESS TRAVELED” BY ROBERT A. KELTERBORN: JANUARY 3, 2019 – FEBRUARY 18, 2019

“The Roads Less Traveled” by Robert A. Kelterborn

The 30 photographs in this show are representative of his past 50 years as an amateur photographer. The subjects are of the less noticed scenes along the back roads depicting the local vernacular. They are mostly from the South with Glynn County well represented.

Robert A. Kelterborn began photographing his surroundings during high school in Garden City, NY (1968). He studied Photographic Science and Technology and received degrees from State University of New York and Rochester Institute of Technology. During a 45-year career in the printing industry he remained an avid amateur photographer. His business travels began in the Southeastern States, allowing many opportunities to photograph the southern vernacular.

Currently he is an associate member of The South Street Photography Group of Atlanta, GA led by Chip Simone, is an Artist member of Glynn Visual Arts, and member of the Coastal Photographers Guild.

Brunswick Rockin' Stewbilee

ANNUAL BRUNSWICK ROCKIN’ STEWBILEE: JANUARY 26, 2019

Get ready for the annual Brunswick Rockin’ Stewbilee at Mary Ross Waterfront Park. Each year, cooking teams from near and far compete to see who has the best stew, competing for the Peoples’ Choice and Judges’ Award. The day long event begins with the 5k Road Race followed by the Pet Supplies Plus Pooch Parade, Live Entertainment, The Kid’s Junior Stewbee Central Fun Zone, Classic and Antique Car Show, Arts & Crafts displays and of course, sampling of the Best Brunswick Stew in the nation.

Advanced tickets are $3 for kids under 6 years, $6 for adults or $4 and $9 on the day of the event. The motorcycle ride will begin at 9:00am. The pooch parade will begin at 10:15am. The Brunswick Stew tasting will take place from 11:00am to 2:00pm.

MEET THE AUTHOR SERIES PRESENTS TOMMY TOMLINSON: JANUARY 26, 2019

The Literary Guild of St. Simons Island Meet the Author Series presents Tommy Tomlinson and The Elephant in the Room. A graduate of Brunswick High, Tommy spent 23 years as a reporter and local columnist for The Charlotte Observer where he was a finalist for the 2005 Pulitzer Prize in commentary. He decided he had to change his life as he neared 50 years of age, weighing in at 460 pounds. His book, The Elephant in the Room, a memoir about life as an overweight man in a growing America, will be published in January 2019.

ART OF FOOD: JANUARY 27, 2019

An extraordinary art and culinary experience. This unique event will be held staring at 5:30pm on Sunday, January 27, 2019. Cocktails and appetizers, courtesy of Golden Isles Olive Oil, will begin the evening at the Glynn Visual Arts Center at 106 Island Drive on beautiful Saint Simons Island. We will explore “The Art of the Cocktail” and learn tips from our mixologist on preparing the “Artful Cocktail.” We will then take a trolley ride down to Georgia Sea Grill where we will experience a one of a kind culinary event. Executive Chef Tim Lensch will prepare and discuss a carefully planned custom menu of tastefully and artfully presented courses for your enjoyment.
