Jackie & Alexander’s April Oceanfront Wedding

Tuesday, June 20th, 2017

Jackie & Alexander’s wedding had everything! Literally everything. From beautiful Spring sunshine, to sparkly details, panoramic ocean views, to surprise Speakeasy parties, you have to see it all. First the couple had their ceremony on the oceanfront lawn, followed by cocktail hour in the Colonnade as guests were serenaded by a jazz trio. Dinner was held in the iconic Delegal Ballroom which is where guests were when they received surprise invitations to attend the Speakeasy party in the upstairs Retreat Room. Danielle & Porter’s Spring Wedding on St Simons Island

Wednesday, April 26th, 2017

Danielle and Porter’s magical day took place in April on St. Simons Island, Georgia. They had a traditional church wedding at Lovely Lane Chapel followed by a reception in the Lanier Ballroom at the oceanfront King and Prince Resort. Besides the couple themselves, things we LOVE about this wedding include the stunning Cake Table and the purple uplighting. Between the gorgeous tablescapes and the purple lighting, this has to be one of our favorite looks for the Lanier Ballroom! (Photos courtesy of Angelita Esparar Photography)

Kasey & Matt’s Beautiful March Wedding on St. Simons Island

Tuesday, April 4th, 2017

Kasey and Matt’s church wedding on St. Simons Island was followed by an oceanfront reception with perfect Spring weather. Something definitely noteworthy is the couple’s choice of uplighting that masterfully enhances the historic stained glass of the Delegal Room. Another takeaway is the couple’s attention to the guests’ experience, they opted for games on the lawn that would entertain all ages and added fun personal touches such as a doughnut tower. Check out some of the fantastic details from their #akozakmoment. (Photos courtesy of Clayton Brannon Photography.)

Prior to the reception, Cocktail Hour was held in the Retreat Room with elaborate fruit and cheese displays featuring local products and butler-passed hors d’oeuvres.

The buffet reception in the Delegal Ballroom featured the Taste of Georgia menu enhanced with a carving station – our most popular southern buffet. Also, Kasey & Matt’s wedding boasted craft beers, bourbon bars and a champagne toast with fun silver poppers that provided a festive and unique exit.

After the reception, guests had the opportunity to keep the party going and they continued the celebration in ECHO’s Bar and Lounge area after the bride and groom retreated to our romantic governor’s suite following their night of celebration.

7 Winning Wedding Trends for 2017

Wednesday, January 11th, 2017

First Looks.

We all love to watch the Groom’s face when the Bride walks down the aisle. However, these days  it’s more likely that he’s already seen her. Nowadays more couples are choosing to see each other before the ceremony. Sharing this intimate moment with just themselves and the photographer has become a trend. In addition to saving a special moment for the happy couple only on such a hectic day, they’re also eliminating an extensive photo shoot during their reception. This way, they can enjoy more of the special time with their friends and family.

Double Duty Dresses.

2 looks, 1 price tag. Brides can have their cake and eat it too when it comes to their dresses. Rock a princess-esque gown for your ceremony then remove the skirt and voila, you’ve got a form fitting cocktail dress perfect for a magical night of dancing!

Domestic Destination Weddings.

Couples love combining their special day with a trip they’ve been itching to take. Regardless of whether or not the location is a place they’ve never been or a destination that’s special to them, it’s all about the getaway. Everybody gets to take a vacation, and not leaving the country means no last minute passports required! Bonus appeal, 1) nobody has to have out-of-towners staying with them and 2) the destination staff handles the cleanup. (Pssst, The King and Prince Resort is a fantastic domestic destination wedding venue!)

Gifts that keep giving.

The average marrying age is increasing. This means couples are needing less and less home items. How many food processors does one couple really need? When 2 adults with 2 full houses wed, the registry is minimized. It’s less about the tangible items and more about the gift of experience. More couples that pay for the wedding themselves are opting to ‘Re-Stock the Piggy Bank’. Some let their guests know about their Honeymoon Fund where you can contribute to their getaway or “gift” the couple an excursion and/or amenity they’ve pre-selected for their Honeymoon Wish List. When neither of these are necessary, or a couple is feeling extra charitable, they ask guests for donations to their favorite charities in lieu of traditional wedding gifts.

Party Games.

We awwwwed. We cried. We ate. We danced. We Jenga’ed? Think outside the box with some entertainment for guests of all ages. What better way to entertain kids (and adults) than by having extra fun games like Giant Jenga. Or even pinatas filled with sweet treats. Fun is fun and fun is good!

It’s more than just a hashtag.

Couples are taking modern technology up a notch and incorporating extras such as geofilters for Snapchat. But in a world of new technology, sometimes it’s fun to throwback to the retro days! On YOUR big day, swap selfie sticks for Polaroid cameas! You’d be surprised at how your pics turn out with just one snap. Shake your photo before you shake it on the dance floor!

Extra Sweetness.

Wedding cakes will always be a crucial and delectable highlight of the Main Event. But some couples are cookie people. Or share an affection for cheesecake. Or just wholly into doughnuts. If you’re wanting to get creative with desserts, this is prime time for the happy couple to satisfy a sweet tooth and savor every moment of the Big Day.

5 Last Minute Beauty Tricks For Your Wedding

Thursday, July 21st, 2016

1) No Glow? No problem. Coconut Water.

This magic elixir is here for you, in more ways than one! Drink it up, soak it up, or why not try both?! It’s the ultimate 2fer! Coconut water helps clear toxins from your skin AND makes sure you are totally glowing on your Big Day! You should notice more radiant and moisturized skin by the time you walk down the aisle.

2) Pore me? Ice, Ice, Baby.

Stress and adrenaline can take a toll on your skin. The countdown to the wedding can certainly contribute! Here’s a cool solution- ice cubes. It’s your special day, so don’t sweat the small stuff.

3) Case of the Casper? 2 words. Spray Tan.

This trick is nothing new, but if spraying isn’t in your normal beauty routine then we advise that you try spraying in advance. We’ve seen Bride Wars. It’s important to not overdo and to also choose a shade that works with your natural skin tone. We also like that you can achieve the sun-kissed skin with minimal time required!

Bride and Groom on Beach

4) 50 Shades of Whiter Teeth! That’s Something to Smile About. Charcoal Capsules.

Surprisingly, charcoal is very effective at removing stains on your teeth. Activated charcoal capsules are sold as dietary supplements at most health stores so if you ingest a little, you’ll be okay. Crack a capsule open and dip a wet toothbrush in the charcoal and brush lightly for a few minutes. Make sure you don’t scrub too hard because the jury is still out on whether it’s abrasive enough to damage your enamel.

5) What’s taking so long!? Hair’s the plan: Extensions or Biotin.

While patience is a virtue, time is also of the essence. Want instant longer locks? Have some fun and try extensions. Want to grow your own? Biotin is the ultimate go-to vitamin. Your hair will thank you!
