August 2015 Events In The Golden Isles

First Friday in Downtown Brunswick: Friday, August 7th- Take a stroll down Newcastle Street & Gloucester Street in downtown Brunswick and visit the shops, restaurants and galleries that call the port city home. There will be live music from local musicians, restaurant specials and art openings.

End of Summer Arts & Crafts Show: Saturday & Sunday, August 22nd & 23rd in Postell Park on St. Simons Island- Explore and shop a variety of arts and crafts from painting to pottery to jewelry and more! The festival will be open from 10am-5pm both days and admission is free!

Pack a picnic, bring your lawn chair or blanket and your friends and spend the evening relaxing while you listen to music and feel the cool ocean breeze. Trolleys will provide transportation between each gallery. Painting with Peggy Buchan at The King and Prince: Saturday, April 4th – from 2-5 p.m. Learn how to capture the beauty of the Georgia Coast through paintbrush and canvas.  St. Simons Island local artist Peggy Buchan has many years of experience painting the tranquil scenes for which the Golden Isles are known. Glynn Art in the Park Spring Festival: April 11th & 12th from 10AM to 5PM – Enjoy a day of art by the ocean! This annual festival presented by The Glynn Art Association, features talented artists from across the country. The event is held in Postell Park by the Pier on St. Simons Island.

St. Simons Island Antique Show: April 18th & 19th from 9AM to 5PM – Antique dealers from across the Southeast will be under the oaks in Postell Park by the Pier. Admission and parking are free!

Cassina Garden Club’s 9th Annual Tabby & Tillandsia Garden Walk: April 25th from 10AM to 5PM – Tour beautiful and blooming private gardens on St. Simons Island. Proceeds from the event help maintain Cassina’s historic Hamilton Plantation slave cabins  on Gascoigne Bluff. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 the day of the event. A Taste of Glynn Returns to The King and Prince

2015 A Taste of Glynn

Every March, The King and Prince plays host to one of Glynn County’s premier events: A Taste of Glynn. This annual event raises money for the Glynn Community Crisis Center while celebrating the diverse culinary talent located in our area. Restaurants and chefs offer samples of their food for those attending the event and it is a great way to sample the culinary offerings of our community all in one great location! The Rotary Club of The Golden Isles’ Red Hot Chili Cookoff: Saturday, March 7th from 11:30am to 2:30pm- This annual event attracts chili-lovers, chefs and families looking to get outside and have some fun! Tickets are $8 per person.

Starlight and Spartina- An Evening Under The Oaks: Saturday, March 7th from 4-8pm- Enjoy a fun evening under the oaks at Musgrove Plantation on St. Simons Island while supporting Coastal WildScapes. The evening includes live music, a silent auction, cocktails and snacks. Tickets are $75 per person and should be purchased in advance.

62nd Annual Christ Church Tour of Homes: Saturday, March 21st, 10am to 12pm- Take a peek into St. Simons Island’s glorious past during this interactive event. A Mother-Daughter Day on St. Simons Island

On Saturday, November 22nd from 9:30am to 4:30pm we invite mothers & daughters to gather at our resort for a day that could be life changing! The day will be hosted by Donna Mastrianni, L.E., Master Esthetician and aromatherapist, and Marie Artman, M.Ed., Master Pilates instructor and owner of Main Street Wellness Center.

You will begin the morning with Marie and Donna for a meet & greet followed by an invigorating morning walk. Next, dance like there’s no tomorrow in a class that targets your heart rate and is focused on inspiring, energetic movements.

After a morning of exercise, you deserve a delicious lunch! Marie Artman will demonstrate correct posture techniques that add strength and grace to your alignment as you move through your day. She will then incorporate the art of poise in an effort to combine both posture and poise to help eliminate pain and add positive reinforcements to your life. Next, Donna Mastrianni will envelop your senses in Aromatherapy. Find out what Aromatherapy is and how to use it to support a healthy lifestyle. Finally, get ready to charge one last time on a Lighthouse climb with Marie. Learn enlightening historical facts as you work your core, quadriceps, hamstrings and gluteal muscles.

End the day at ECHO in the resort’s lobby with Marie and Donna to discuss any questions you have about what you’ve learned. What a perfect ending to a day of bonding for Mothers and Daughters!

Marie Artman has been in the fitness business for more than thirty years and holds a Bachelor of Education in dance therapy and a Master of Education in Exercise Physiology and Cardiac Rehabilitation. She worked for twenty years at the Forbes Five Star Cloister Resort on Sea Island. She now runs the Main Street Wellness Center on Saint Simons Island where her Pilates Loft specializes in private and group Pilates Reformer classes as well as Bungee Ballet.

Donna Mastrianni is a licensed Master Esthetician, Executive Spa Director, Aromatherapist, Lecturer and product developer. Donna was Spa Director for Sea Island’s Forbes Five Star Spa as well as other spas including the PGA Tour La Terra Spa. She has created a line of products, Donne & Cavalli®, for people with active lifestyles and specific skin care needs. Donna practices privately at Main Street Wellness Center on Saint Simons Island through her company The Facial Suite.
