First Friday in Downtown Brunswick: Friday, September 5th- Take a stroll down Newcastle Street & Gloucester Street in downtown Brunswick and visit the shops, restaurants and galleries that call the port city home. There will be live music from local musicians, restaurant specials and art openings.

Rhythm on the River: Sunday, September 14th- Enjoy live music at Mary Ross Waterfront Park featuring the Parker Urban Band in Brunswick from 6-8pm. Bring the kids and pack a picnic dinner. Admission is $10 per adult, 15 & under free.

Eco Lecture Series at Village Creek Landing: Tuesday, September 16th. Bar opens at 5pm, lecture begins at 6pm. The guest speaker will talk about environmental topics and preserving Georgia’s coast. Admission is $10 and space is limited. Please RSVP by visiting VillageCreekLanding.com.

Jazz in the Park featuring Michael Hulett: Sunday, September 21st 7-9PM. Presented by the Golden Isles Arts & Humanities, Jazz in the Park is one of the most popular events on St. Simons Island. Bring a picnic and your friends and spend the evening listening to live music next to the ocean and underneath the light house! Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6-12 and children under 6 are free.

St. Simons Island July 4th Sunshine Festival: Friday, July 4th- Sunday, July 6th 10AM to 5PM- An island tradition for over 60 years, the sunshine festival is a great way to celebrate the 4th! Located in the pier village, the festival features arts & crafts vendors selling pottery, paintings, photography and jewelry! The festival also has children’s activities, live music, a golf cart parade, family movies and of course, fireworks on the 4th!

Georgia Sea Island Festival: Saturday & Sunday, June 7th & 8th at Gascoigne Park- This annual festival celebrates the African American traditions, crafts and food of Georgia’s barrier islands. For more information, visit their website.

The 24th Annual Golden Isles Family Fishing Event: Saturday, June 7th from 8:30am to 12pm- Bring the family out to the Sidney Lanier Fishing Pier for a morning of fishing and family fun! There will be free food and free rods and tackle boxes for all participants! The event is free of charge for the first 125 registered children ages 5-12. Second Sunday at Gascoigne Bluff: June 8th from 1-7pm- Grab your family and friends and head out to the park for an afternoon of live music underneath majestic oak trees. There will be raffles, activities for the kids and of course, lots of fun! Each month, second Sunday benefits a local charity.

Reelin’ In A Cure Tripletail Tournament: Saturday, May 10th- This popular American Cancer Society benefit takes place at Morningstar Marina. The cost to participate in the fishing tournament is $100 per person. Prizes will be awarded for the biggest fish and the most fish. Following the tournament, there will be a party with live music beginning at 5pm. Tickets to the party are sold separately and are $35 per person or $65 per couple. Mother’s Day Weekend Arts & Crafts Show: Saturday & Sunday, May 10th & 11th- During this popular local event, art vendors from across the Southeast will be selling their crafts from 10am to 5pm in Postell Park on St. Simons Island.

The Annual Glynn Art in the Park EXTRAvARTganza: April 12th & 13th from 10AM to 5PM- Enjoy a day of art by the ocean! This annual festival presented by The Glynn Art Association, features talented artists from across the country. The event is held in Postell Park by the Pier on St. Simons Island.

The 4th Annual Americana & Blues Festival: April 12th at 7PM- Come out for a night of live music and fun underneath the stars. This annual event is held at Coastal Kitchen and benefits Hospice of The Golden Isles. Tickets are $20.

Annual Spring Exhibit at The Left Bank Art Gallery: April 17th through May 31st- Celebrate springtime by viewing some wonderful art exhibits. Along with the exhibits, the art gallery will be welcoming two new artists: Catherine Elliott of Connecticut and Millie Gosch of Atlanta who have been invited to show their contemporary impressionistic landscapes. Keep Brunswick & The Golden Isles Beautiful Golf Tournament: April 21st from 11:30AM to 6PM at The Brunswick Country Club- This fundraiser golf tournament raises money to help keep our community beautiful and clean! Cost is $90/player or $360/team. For more information, visit their website.

Cassina Garden Club’s 8th Annual Tabby & Tillandsia Garden Walk: April 26th from 10AM to 5PM-  Tour 8 beautiful and blooming private gardens on St. Simons Island. Proceeds from the event help maintain Cassina’s historic Hamilton Plantation slave cabins  on Gascoigne Bluff. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 the day of the event. The Rotary Club of The Golden Isles’ Red Hot Chili Cookoff: Saturday, March 1st from 11:30AM to 2:30PM. This annual event attracts chili-lovers, chefs and families looking to get outside and have some fun! Tickets are $8 per person.

Starlight & Spartina, An Evening Under The Oaks: Saturday, March 1st from 4-8PM. Enjoy a fun evening under the oaks at Musgrove Plantation on St. Simons Island while supporting Coastal WildScapes. The evening includes live music, a silent auction, cocktails and snacks. Tickets are $75 per person and should be purchased in advance.

History Uncovered-Civil War Portraiture and Artifacts at The Mildred Huie Museum: Saturday, March 8th: Spend the afternoon exploring the Mildred Huie Museum. At 3PM, Civil War historian Dr. Calliicutt will speak about his collection of Civil War portraits and artifacts. The exhibition will be on display through April, 2014.

The 2nd Annual Georgia Elvis Festival: March 14-16: The festival is back for a second year and promises to be more fun than last year! Main events will take place at the historic Ritz Theater in downtown Brunswick, Georgia. For more information and for ticket prices, visit their website.

The 61st Annual Christ Church Tour of Homes: Saturday, March 15th. 10AM to 12PM: Take a peek into St. Simons Island’s glorious past during this interactive event. You will “meet” a new of the island’s more notorious residents, tour beautiful homes and even tour the cemetery at Christ Church.

The Annual Invitational Spring Arts & Crafts Show: March 15th & 16th from 10AM to 5PM: Postell Park on St. Simons Island is turned into an arts and crafts paradise during this weekend. Browse through booths with paintings, jewelry, photographs, sculptures and much more!

Wings, Wheels & Run: Saturday, March 22nd, 9AM: Drive, fly or run to the Brunswick/Golden Isles Airport for a day of running, fun, car shows, airplanes and food! There will be a 1 mile fun run as well as a 5k race, a classic auto show and a special fly-in of special aircraft from all across the Southeast. For more information, visit their website.

A Taste of Glynn: Saturday, March 30th from 5-8PM. This wildly popular annual event showcases the area’s finest cuisine while benefiting the Glynn Community Crisis Center. There will be live music from local musicians, restaurant specials and art openings.

“4 Brushes” January 7th, from 6-8pm: This ticketed reception at the Glynn Art Association on St. Simons Island features artwork from Ken Wallin, Peggy Everett, Janet Powers and Mary O. Smith. Tickets are $50.00 per person.

Mozart’s Opera,”Cosi Fan Tutte” January 26th at 3:00pm at The Ritz Theatre. The Peach State Opera will delight the audience with this English-language version of Mozart’s comedy of love and disguise.

Mystery on the River – “Murder at the Grand Gatsby Speakeasy” February 1st at 6:30pm at the Arthur Moore Methodist Museum. Enjoy delicious food and a great time at this annual event. For more information call: 912-638-4050.

The Southeast Georgia Health System Bridge Run: February 15th. Certified as the “Toughest 5K in Georgia”, runners from across Georgia and the Southeast make it a point to run this challenging 5K each year. The event benefits local cancer programs. Fall is one of our favorite seasons in the Golden Isles. The temperatures are mild, the island is calm and there are many events to attend and participate in! Here are some of our favorite fall events around St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island!

 

A Little Light Music Outdoor Concert Featuring – Sensational Sounds of Motown

September 1st, 7pm. Pack a picnic dinner and enjoy an evening of live music under the stars by the St. Simons Island Lighthouse.

 

The Annual Shrimp & Grits Festival on Jekyll Island

The festival is September 20-22, 2013 and is located in the Historic District on Jekyll Island

The festival celebrates two favorite foods in the south – Shrimp and Grits. Cooking demonstrations, live entertainment, arts & crafts vendors, shrimp boat tours and a cook-off are just some of the activities you will enjoy throughout the weekend.

 

Meet The Pros & Swing For Kids Tournament

These two great events support local children’s charities across The Golden Isles.

Meet The Pros is Thursday, September 26th at The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort from 5-7pm. Meet local golf pros, enjoy cocktails, heavy hors d’oeuvres and participate in a silent auction.

The Swing For Kids Tournament is Friday, September 27th with lunch and registration at 11am at The King and Prince Golf Course. Tickets are still available for both events. Visit www.mcgladreyclassic.com for more information.

 

The St. Simons Food & Spirits Fest

Celebrate the bounty of The Golden Isles and our culinary talent while raising money for Hospice of The Golden Isles. Events will take place from October 1st through October 6th and will include restaurant specials, cooking demonstrations, whiskey and wine tastings, cooking classes and so much more! The resort’s chef, Jason Brumfiel will be part of “A Study in Shrimp” tasting and talk on October 4th. This is the second year for this culinary festival and tickets will sell out so be sure to purchase yours in advance!

 

Coast Fest 2013

Located at the GA DNR Coastal Regional Headquarters in Brunswick, Coast Fest is a great way to learn about the local ecology and meet animals that call the Golden Isles home! The festival will be Saturday, October 5th from 10am to 4:45pm.

 

The 44th Annual Glynn Art in the Park Fall Festival

Stroll under the live oaks in Postell Park and take in the crisp fall air while you enjoy the Glynn Arts Association’s annual festival. There will be many arts and crafts vendors to purchase art from. The event will take place October 12th & 13th.

 

The Brunswick Stewbilee

Celebrate the birthplace of Brunswick Stew on Saturday, October 26th. The day starts with a 5K followed by a pooch parade (complete with costumes!). There will be live entertainment, a kid zone, arts & crafts displays, an antique car show and lots of Brunswick stew to taste.

 

The McGladrey Classic

This PGA Tour event is hosted by island resident Davis Love III and is played on the Seaside Course at Sea Island. The Tournament includes youth activities, a pro-am, military appreciation day and a concert under the oaks with Toby Keith. This event takes place November 4th -10th.
