• The historic Delegal Dining Room is an elegant spot for receptions with stained glass windows and a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean.
• The Solarium is an intimate oceanfront spot perfect for bridal luncheons, rehearsal dinners and receptions.
• The Retreat Room’s view speaks for itself.  Being on the second floor, you can see miles and miles of ocean!  It is lovely for rehearsal dinners, luncheons, receptions, brunches and even ceremonies.
• The Lanier Ballroom is the largest of our venues and is made for dancing the night away!

Hi, my name is Debora League.  I have been in the service industry for 30 years and have owned or operated numerous bars and or restaurants over the years. I am currently the Restaurant Manager at The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort on Saint Simons Island, Georgia. I have been with this company for almost 5 years and have to say it is one of the best experiences of my career. I manage many different food outlets at this resort, including the following:

The Atrium Café is what most coffee lover’s look for in the A.M. We serve “Starbucks” Coffee, Lattes, Cappuccinos, pastries and more.

The Blue Dolphin Restaurant that hosts: a breakfast buffet every morning, which includes a chef-attended omelet station and all of your traditional favorites. An incredible seafood buffet that is offered every Friday night, in addition to the regular menu that includes our local Wild Georgia Shrimp (no imported shrimp here). Some of my menu favorites are: the Shrimp and Grits, the lemon pepper Black Florida Grouper and the New Zealand lamb chops (cooked medium). We also serve a Southern Sunday Brunch that offers something for everyone.

The Paradise Beach Bar and Grill has the only outdoor beach-front dining on the Island, where you can sit and watch the dolphins play while enjoying regular or veggie burgers, hot dogs, salads and much, much more for a great price. I spend as much time as I can in this location because it never feels like work, no matter how busy we are.

Closing date was April 1, 2009 with a scheduled re-open date of October 1, 2009.  With “A Quality Golf Experience” as our mission statement, we sought to make our Hotel Guests and Members feel important to us by arranging several area courses for them to play during this time.  My staff handles all of the arrangements and is on location to assist with the group bookings.   Offering outstanding service is important to me, so I wanted that to continue even though our course is not open.

Hampton has 4 holes out in the marsh, connected by 800 feet of bridgework, which take your breath away on the back nine.  With over 95% of the people who play here saying, “this is the best golf experience I have ever had”, our goal is to put it back for the next generation to enjoy.

The restoration includes replacing greens with Mini-Verde the newest in the hybrid family.  Our tees, fairways, and rough will be Celebration, a new Bermuda grass that can handle shade well.    Our bunkers will be reshaped and grassed with Empire Zoysia.  Finally we have a collar of Tif-Sport to give us four types of grasses.   It will be a real “WOW” factor to see when you come to visit our hotel and play the course.  Whether it’s your first time or seventh time, you do not want to miss it.

Welcome and thank you for reading our blog for The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort.

I have the honor and privilege of writing this first posting, so please allow me to introduce myself; Bud St. Pierre, Director of Sales & Marketing.  May 2009 will be my seventh year here and I couldn’t be happier living on this gorgeous island haven and working for The King and Prince in a position I really enjoy.

Since this is our first blog, my goal is to provide as much information to you about the King and Prince and St Simons Island; the resort amenities, accommodations, restaurants and services and the fun, enjoyable and unique activities and businesses here on St. Simons.

Our talented team of professionals here at the Resort will be our future bloggers, everyone from our General Manager, the Resort Concierge, Restaurant Managers, Reservation Supervisors and quite a few more.  So please return and read more about us.

We have all heard the phrase “Location, location, location.”  Situated on a charming island, with an ocean front location on the Atlantic Ocean, The King and Prince Beach Resort has that.  78% of our accommodations offer ocean front locations or ocean views.  The Resort grounds cover approximately three blocks, with the north and south villas serving as bookends framing the property.

The Resort features 198 guest accommodations, 5 ocean front pools, including an indoor pool and hot tub, two complimentary clay tennis courts, the resort owned and operated Hampton Club Golf Course, a complimentary exercise room, complimentary Wi-Fi access in every room and three computers in our Business Center, with complimentary hi-speed internet access.  As you can see, this Resort does not add irritating fees to our amenities.  We also offer complimentary parking and a newspaper delivered outside your door each morning.  I like complimentary; I know our guests like that, too.

For a property with less than 200 rooms, we have an impressive selection of accommodations.  On the resort’s web site www.kingandprince.com  we have a resort map that shows the property much better than I can describe.  The King and Prince features hotel guest rooms, two and three bedroom villas and 8 residences, from one to five bedrooms.  There are two ocean front suites, eight ocean front cabanas with a step out private patio and three Tower rooms on the third floor of the Historic Building that all offer gorgeous views of the Atlantic Ocean.  We even have a wide variety of hotel guest rooms in four separate buildings, each with its’ own distinctive décor and style, with colors, fabrics and textures that are so refreshing and appealing that you’ll want to add them in your own home.  Our villas offer two and three bedrooms with patios or balconies and are perfect for two couples or families.  If you really want to be spoiled, the eight Resort Residences offer all of the conveniences of home, just steps away from the beach.  As you can see, we have something for everyone; from elegant suites and private homes to ocean front rooms or standard rooms.  Affordable luxury here at The King and Prince Hotel!

Dining options here at the Resort are excellent!  The Blue Dolphin Restaurant is St. Simons only ocean front restaurant.  The menu features extensive selections of seafood and prime steaks.  A daily breakfast buffet is served in the Resort’s Delegal Dining Room, as well as our famous Friday Night Seafood Buffet and Sunday Brunch.  The Atrium Café offers Starbucks coffees, pastries and snacks and The Paradise Beach Bar & Grille offers a full bar menu and delicious sandwiches and snacks around the outdoor pools.  One of my favorite parts of travelling is trying delicious foods and local cuisine and the Resort has developed a legendary reputation in the area for our dining options.

The King and Prince features some of the finest ocean front function space I have ever seen.  It all starts with the historic centerpiece of the Resort, the Delegal Room.  Eleven stained glass murals line the chandeliered room with panoramic views of the beach.  The Retreat Room and Solarium also offer wonderful views of the ocean; you’re so close, you can see dolphins swim by!  On our ocean front Lawn, you won’t need entertainment, as the sound of the waves and the soothing breeze will keep your guests happy.  Group meetings and weddings are an important part of our business and our team of sales and catering professionals offer the highest levels of personal attention and service, with classic southern hospitality.
