Make Your Next Event An Affair To Remember

Sunday, September 27th, 2015

Attendees have grown tired of the “same old” events which means that planners need to think outside the box more than ever if they want to “wow” their clients. Here is our list of the top 5 ways to make your next event an affair to remember!

Roll Out The Red Carpet. Literally. When guests arrive, have a red carpet for them to walk on and a photographer on hand to snap their photo. It’s sure to impress and get them excited for what’s to come! They will also be able to share their photos with friends and colleagues and brag about what a wonderful time they had.

Photo Booth Fun. Bring out their inner child with a photo booth. Many photographers offer packages which include a booth and it’s sure to make them laugh. Ask the photographer if they supply props for the photos. The more, the better and if they don’t, someone will have fun shopping for the props.

Small Bites. Offer a diverse menu by offering tapas passed around the event. Go with a theme such as “Around the world” , “Tour of Europe” or “Best of the U.S.A.”. You’ll be able to offer tastes of food from a wide variety of places and guests will have a memorable dining experience.

Craft Beer Tasting. These days, most cities have a few local breweries and there are a growing number of people who are interested in the craft beer movement. Offer a local craft beer tasting with the areas best breweries. It is a good opportunity for your guests to network and get to know each other!

Hash(tag) It Out. Create an event hashtag and promote it before, during and after the event. You and all of the attendees will be able to see what a fun time everyone had and those who were not able to go, may be more inclined to attend the next event.

St. Simons Island 4th Annual Food & Spirits Festival

Thursday, September 17th, 2015

Each year, September brings fall weather, football, and the St. Simons Food & Spirits Festival. This local culinary affair is the highlight of the season and offers something for everyone with its multitude of events- from BBQ competitions where professional golfers (think Davis Love III, Zach Johnson, and more) take on the pitmasters, to Celebrity Guest Chefs displaying their skills, and oceanfront brunches with live music and swaying palm trees. All profits benefit Hospice of the Golden Isles, the area’s only non-profit hospice serving a 5 county area.

The main event is “Saturday Under the Oaks,” and takes place at Gascoigne Bluff on St Simons Island.  This is where you are sure to find everyone you know. This tasty social gathering has so much going on, you’re sure to enjoy it all! A tasting tent featuring gourmet food from local eateries, mixology tents highlighting specialty cocktails, a market area where local artisans are selling their goods, and even a Kid Zone for the little ones.

Throughout the day there will be many live demos, including a Chef Showdown. Four local chefs will compete in a 30 min “Chopped Style” cook-off, which will be judged by the audience and Celebrity Chefs. In the spirit of charity, to participate in the Chef Showdown, each chef is raising money for Hospice of the Golden Isles here, and the Top 4 earners will earn their spot in the competition. This event is particularly exciting for us because ECHO’s Chef de Cuisine, James Flack, is one of the local chefs trying to earn his spot in the Top 4 to compete on October 3. You can vote for Chef Flack so he gets the chance to compete by donating here!

No matter which event(s) you choose to participate in, you and your taste buds are sure to have a great time! The festival’s 2015 full event schedule includes:

  • Wednesday, September 30
    • First Bite Kick-Off
    • Southern Soul BBQ & Beer Pairing
  • Thursday, October 1
    • BBQ Pro-Am presented by Georgia Crown
  • Friday, October 2

Labor Day Weekend at the King and Prince 2015

Wednesday, September 9th, 2015

Labor Day celebrations to many may mean that summer is officially over, but here we are still enjoying the great weather. Around the resort, we had 3 days of gorgeous weather and lots of fun. There were biplane tours, boating, paddle boarding, and more!

Tons of people took to the beach and the pools on St. Simons Island, GA. The holiday weekend was packed with sunshine, splashes, football, good eats, and live music. ECHO had music on both Friday & Saturday nights; Robby & Felix rocked out Friday and Michael Johnson took his turn Saturday. King and Prince guests also got to enjoy classic summer favorites thanks to Joey Thigpen playing live on the pool deck Saturday afternoon.

Labor Day Weekend Saturday also kicked off college football, which is big in these parts, and brought back ECHO’s Game Day menu. Three delicious dishes perfect for football Saturdays & Sundays. There’s the Georgia Dawg Burger- delicious mushrooms, pickled peppers & Swiss cheese. Our version of the Canadian dish, Poutine- our truffle fries topped with chorizo sausage and cheese (every bit as good as you are thinking). And lastly, the Gator Nachos. Yes, nachos topped with gator meat. They’re all delicious and perfect for your game day munchies!Labor Day on St. Simons Island
