Meetings & Conventions Magazine has named Social Media as one of the top meeting trends of 2014. Here are some ways to incorporate social media into your next event.
- Create A Hashtag: Hashtags are an easy way to keep track of what people are talking about in regards to your meeting or convention. This can be used for attendees to communicate with each other during the meeting, for organizers to see what topics are resonating with the attendees and to keep the conversation going after the event is over. Hashtags can be used on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
- Set Up An Event Blog: Blogs are another way to draw traffic to your website. Create a blog for your meeting or event. It can be as simple or as in depth as you want it to be. It is a good way to get people talking about the conference and to keep attendees informed. If you don’t have time to write all of the blogs, use it as an incentive for those attending the event. If they write a certain number of blogs for you, they will receive a % off their registration (or free registration!).
- Take Lots Of Photos: Take photos during the event and post them on your company’s Facebook page. Direct participants to your company’s page and invite them to tag themselves in the photos. Display the photos on the screen in the event space during breaks so people can see themselves on the big screen! You can also post the photos to Instagram and use a hashtag for the event to create more buzz.
- Create A YouTube Channel: Record part of your meetings…even if it is just little snippets to give future meeting-goers a taste of what your meetings are like. This can be used for promotional purposes at a later date. You can ask attendees to take short videos from the cell phones and have them emailed to you. This is a good way to get many different types of videos for you to upload. The more, the merrier! YouTube videos can be used on your website, blog, Twitter and Facebook page.
