Benefits of an Off-Season Wedding

There’s no written rule that getting married requires six figures to be a success. In fact, TheWeddingReport.com states that in Georgia, the average wedding spend is $23,539.

One way to have the wedding of your dreams while keeping budget in mind is to consider scheduling your wedding for months that are not considered “peak” wedding months. Typically, May through September mark the high season for most weddings, so choosing a date outside of those months can result in discounted prices.

Here are just a few of the benefits to getting married outside of the peak wedding months:

  1. Off-peak, most wedding destinations are more apt to offer a discount.
  2. Accommodations and travel arrangements will likely be less expensive for your guests.
  3. Likewise, you may also get a better deal on your honeymoon accommodations and travel arrangements.
  4. In-demand venues may have a waiting period for peak months, but choosing an off-season wedding may allow you to get married sooner.
  5. You are likely to get discounted prices on catering, photography, DJ service, and floral arrangements.
  6. If you are dreaming of a holiday-themed wedding, some churches and venues decorate with greenery, poinsettias, and other holiday items, which may mean less decorating and flowers needed to complete your theme.

Of course, all of this depends on what time of year you choose and where you are located. A January wedding in Wisconsin might be difficult for guests traveling in for the wedding and flowers will be at a premium around Valentine’s Day. Call around to different venues and resorts in the area you are considering to find out what they consider off-peak before you set your date!
