I was waiting tables at 17 in 1974. Graham, a veteran waiter and institution there, was my mentor. Miss Anna was the head chef and the sweetest woman I’d ever met. The most delectable Sunday buffets were available for $6, which featured seafood newburg and steamship round, carved by ol’ Joe in his starched white jacket and cap (who would slip me a bit upon request). Occasionally I’d work the snack bar by the pool (and they called that work!). During the summers, the busy season, I was immersed in college students who could earn enough to pay most of their educational costs for the year working at the King and Prince. So many good memories there.
